Rainforest Zipline in the El Yunque Foothills

About this experience

Rainforest Zipline Park sits on a hill off Road 191 in Río Grande, on private land below El Yunque National Forest. You park at the top, check in at the office, get a harness and helmet, and walk out to the first platform with a team of guides. The course has eight lines: the listing says you start on simple, shorter and lower lines, and the park has three low platforms no higher than 4 feet, so you can get comfortable before anything gets serious.

Then it builds. Five of the platforms stand about 30 feet up, and the park calls lines 7 and 8 its main event: line 7 runs over 2,300 feet (700 m), and the listing says the last two are the longest in eastern Puerto Rico. Everything runs on a double cable. Guests report a water break and guides taking photos, and one 2024 reviewer mentions rides on pickup trucks at the park.

Two things to know before you book. The Viator title says "from San Juan", but there is no transport: the listing excludes hotel pickup, so you drive about 45 minutes or book the version with pickup. And the park's own site sells the same tour at $99 for adults and $79 for children 8 to 15, below Viator's $112 from-price. Viator gets you free cancellation up to 24 hours before; booking direct, a cancellation inside 24 hours gets a 60% refund.

  • Daily tours at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

What guests say

★★★★★

All of the staff were VERY kind and comforting to nervous first-timers. And they took great care of my son (who got stuck a couple of times because he doesn't weigh much). This was our third ziplining experience and our favorite by far!

Very fun and easy first experience for beginner zipliners. Easy breezy 8 ziplines, the last zipline is the fastest. Zipline #7 is the longest and my favorite one.

The crew takes you through 8 courses, gives you a water break, and they make sure to take pictures as well as enjoy the activity.

The guides were so wonderful and helpful the entire way. Felt very safe and they looked out for everyone. You will have a great time. It's a little strenuous for us older people but very doable.

Tips before you book

  • Book the 10 a.m. tour in summer. One July guest almost passed out from the heat on a humid day, and staff brought ice water.
  • Wear pants or leggings, a T-shirt (no sports bras) and sneakers. Swimsuits, sandals, water shoes, toe shoes and skirts are turned away.
  • Wear an old shirt. A reviewer of the pickup version of this tour warns that grease from the gear can land on your clothes.
  • The park warns of many bees in the area. Bring your allergy medicine if you need it.
  • Think twice about the GoPro: one guest advises against it, another recommends a phone holder around your neck for filming.
